Local Couple Becomes Multi-Millionaires: 2020 LI Lottery Winners

Several Long Islanders got lucky in 2020, including a couple who won a $8.2 million jackpot. See what they are spending the money on.

BAY SHORE, NY — Several Long Island residents managed to find some luck in 2020 —by winning big while playing New York Lottery.

Among those winners include Bay Shore couple John and Anna Buglion, who won $8.2 million in May.

The lucky couple matched all six numbers drawn for the May 6 Lotto drawing. The two purchased the ticket at the 7-Eleven on Union Boulevard in Bay Shore.

"I scanned the ticket on the Lottery app," Buglion said. "We then signed it and put in a safe deposit box.

The Buglions chose to split a one-time lump sum payment. Each will receive $2,329,010 after required withholdings.

The couple said they plan to use the money to buy a new home and prepare for retirement.
