Man Charged With Attempting To Rob Bay Shore Bank: Police

The 27-year-old gave the teller a note demanding cash, but ran away before the teller could comply, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY - A Bay Shore man was arrested for attempting to rob a bank in Bay Shore on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

Samuel G. Hightower III, 27, entered Chase bank on 840 Sunrise Service Road and presented a note demanding cash at 3:30 p.m., police said.

He then fled on foot before the teller could comply, police said.

Third Precinct Police Officer Tiffany Torres responded to the bank hold up alarm and found Hightower fleeing the bank, police said.

Hightower was arrested and charged with third degree attempted robbery and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
