BAY SHORE, NY — A Ronkonkoma man was found shot dead in the parking lot of a church in Bay Shore early Saturday morning, Suffolk police said. Officers responding to a 911 call found Linver Ortiz-Ponce in the parking lot of the House of Prayer Church Parking Lot on Holbrook Street just before 1 a.m., according to police.Ortiz-Ponce, 29, of Ronkonkoma, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, adding that the homicide squad is investigating.Police did not release any further details about the shooting. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact them directly at 631-852-6392 or to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
