Metered Parking Suspended In Downtown Bay Shore
"It's important that during these unsettling times, we do what we can to help one another," Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said.
BAY SHORE, NY — Islip town officials announced on Wednesday that parking meters in downtown Bay Shore have been suspended in order to facilitate restaurant take-out orders. Earlier this week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that all restaurants and bars in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut were required to close down indefinitely. However, restaurants are still allowed to offer food via take—out or delivery.
In order to help the businesses facilitate the take-out orders, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Town Board decided to suspended parking meters along Main Street until further notice.
"I, along with the members of the Town Board, wanted to do our part to encourage residents to continue patronizing their local restaurants. Anything we can do to help our local businesses to facilitate taking advantage of To-Go orders, we need to do," Carpenter said. "It’s important that during these unsettling times, we do what we can to help one another."
