New Gym Equipment Expands Recreation Opportunities At Bay Shore’s Kramer Learning Center

Alan and Ellen Spiegel were recognized for donating portable gym equipment for students at the Bay Shore school.

BAY SHORE, NY — Students and staff at ACLD’s Kramer Learning Center recently celebrated a new addition to their school with a ribbon-cutting ceremony recognizing donors Alan and Ellen Spiegel for their generous contribution.

The ceremony marked the unveiling of new portable gym equipment in the school’s multi-purpose room, which will provide students with expanded opportunities for indoor physical activity, recreation, and skill-building.

Kramer Learning Center is one of three Children’s Services locations in Bay Shore operated by Bethpage-based ACLD (Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc.). The organization also operates the Alan and Ellen Spiegel Children’s Center and classrooms at the Bay Shore UPK Center.

ACLD’s Children’s Services offer a continuum of programs for children ages 3 to 21, including preschool special education services, family support, respite programs, and services designed to help students transition from school into the workforce.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together the Spiegels, Rob Ciatto, president and CEO of ACLD, and Stacey Ratner, principal of ACLD’s Children’s Services, along with staff members and students who will benefit from the upgraded space.

Students from Kramer Learning Center presented the Spiegels with thank-you cards during the event, expressing appreciation for the donation that made the equipment upgrade possible.

“We are incredibly grateful to Alan and Ellen Spiegel for their continued generosity and belief in our mission,” Ratner said. “This investment will have a meaningful and lasting impact on our students’ daily experiences and overall well-being.”

ACLD, founded in 1957, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for children and adults with autism and learning and developmental disabilities to pursue independent and fulfilling lives within their communities.

The organization employs more than 1,300 staff members and operates more than 100 program sites across Nassau and Suffolk counties, offering services that include early childhood education, residential programs, day habilitation, vocational training, job placement, respite care, and therapeutic services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
