Suffolk Woman Charged With Neglecting Dog
BREAKING: The 32-year-old was arrested on Monday.

NORTH BAY SHORE, NY - A North Bay Shore woman was arrested on Monday for abandoning and severely neglecting her dog, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
Shayna Staton, 32, was charged with animal cruelty after neglecting her male Silky/Yorkie who was found "extremely matted and covered with feces and urine," the SPCA said.
The dog was found abandoned in Brentwood on the side of Candlewood Road. He was "near death" and transported to Atlantic Coast Veterinary Hospital in Bohemia where he received medical attention, according to the SPCA.

After an investigation, Suffolk County SPCA Detectives were able to compile evidence and charge Staton earlier this week.
She will appear in First District Court in Central Islip October 18.
