LI Parents Left Baby In Car To Shop At Target: Police
They left their 13-month-old child alone in a car with the engine turned off, police say. It was 27 degrees at the time.
BAY SHORE, NY — Long Island parents were arrested Saturday after they left their 13-month-old child alone in a car in Bay Shore while they shopped at Target, Suffolk County Police said.
Paul Albinagorta, 34, and Natalia Pascual, 22, of Central Islip, the parents of the child, were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Police said they received a 911 call at about 4:20 p.m., stating a baby was left unattended in a parked vehicle that was turned off in the parking lot of Target at 838 Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore. Officers arrived and saw the baby did not appear to be in distress, police said. Albinagorta and Pascual arrived at the scene at about 4:30 p.m., police said.

After an investigation, the two were arrested, police said.
The child was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for observation and was later released, police said. Child Protective Services were notified, police confirmed, adding that the child will be released to a family member.

It was about 27 degrees at the time of the incident, according to the National Weather Service.
Albinagorta and Pascual were arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday and are due back in court on Feb. 16, police said.
