Suffolk Woman Found Dead, Fatally Shot, Inside Apartment: Police

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A Central Islip woman was found fatally shot inside her home on Monday, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 9:41 p.m., a family member reported finding Shayna Staton dead inside her Hawthorne Avenue apartment, police said.

Staton, 39, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
