BAY SHORE, NY— On behalf of its residents, the Greybarn community recently donated $1,000 to help support the efforts of Pronto, a community outreach center—located in Bay Shore—that helps people in need by providing them with basic services such as food and clothing. Greybarn—a unique luxury rental community built by Long Islanders for Long Islanders—continues to fulfill its overarching mission to foster a sense of community to help improve the lives of its residents as well as those in the surrounding area.

“We couldn’t be happier to partner with Pronto of Long Island, as they share in Greybarn’s core values of supporting people in need and treating them with dignity and respect,” said Michael Loeffler, Greybarn’s Community Director. “Greybarn residents are proud to join this commitment and ensure no one goes hungry or cold in our local communities.”

Pronto’s mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the needy, welcome the stranger and provide healing and hope to everyone who walks through our doors. The organization has four programs: The Food Pantry, The Thrift Center, The Warehouse and Shots for Tots. Through the food pantry, they organize food drives and accept donations from community partners and the private sector to help families facing hunger. They also accept donations of clothes, shoes and bedding for their Thrift Center where families can shop items at a reduced price. Furthermore, the Warehouse and Shots for Tots focus on offering used household items and immunization programs respectively. Additional services include monthly classes that prepare students for their citizenship exam, healthcare informational services and food stamp assistance; senior services programs and, the empire justice program to help residents with legal issues.

“Pronto of Long Island is very thankful to Greybarn for their generous donation,” said Vivian Hart, Executive Director of Pronto of Long Island, Inc. “In addition to presenting a check for $1,000, Greybarn residents will also be donating clothing and food throughout the month of December. Because of these gifts, we are able to continue to feed and clothe thousands of Long Islanders who are struggling during these challenging times.”
