111th Precinct to Host Night Out Against Crime on Aug. 7
Annual event will be held at the Douglaston Shopping Plaza.

will host its annual National Night Out Against Crime event at the on Aug. 7.
Attendees will be able to sample free food, including hamburgers and hot dogs, and take part in raffles for prizes, such as bicycles and helmets.
The event, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in front of the center’s store, will also include a D.J., children’s games, a balloon sculptor and a bouncy house.

Residents will be able to get free VIN etching for their vehicles and bicycles as well as safety stickers for car windows.
"We'll have tables out there where people can learn about self defense, domestic violence and crime prevention," said Garry Poggiali, a spokesman for the 111th Precinct. "It's a chance for the community and the Police Department to come together. It's a festive event."

Northeast Queens elected officials – including state Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, state Assemblyman Edward Braunstein, D-Bayside, and Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone – have been invited to the event.
