Well over 100 screaming Met fans gathered at in Douglaston to cheer on the under-dog New York Mets Friday night.

“With Pelfrey on the front line ...  we don’t have a chance,” said Danny Veliz of Bayside.

Pelfrey wasn’t at his best on the road last year, registering a 5-6 record and mediocre 4.95 ERA in the 15 games (14 starts) he played away from Citi Field — starkly different to his home game record last season, which hit the 10-3 mark and 2.83 ERA, according to the Sports Network.

The turning point in last nights game came in the fourth inning — with bases loaded — when Marlin’s catcher, John Buck skyrocketed a grand slam home run delivering the Marlins a 4-0 lead that the Mets would not recover.

Despite the loss, fans and patrons painted the defeat with a veneer of enthusiasm, cheering wildly for their beloved home team as Mets legend, Daryl Strawberry, prompted the crowd of loyal fans and local residents to “Believe.”

"We’ll be back, no matter what they predict,” said Douglaston resident Mike Tanenbaum.

The New York Mets will replay the Florida Marlins Saturday at 7:10 P.M.
