Bayside Village BID to Host Arts and Crafts Festival on April 27
More than 30 artists as well as Bayside High School students will hang their work in stores along Bell Boulevard.

The Bayside Village Business Improvement District will host its annual arts and crafts festival on April 27 along Bell Boulevard.
The event, which will run from noon to 5 p.m. near Bayside’s Long Island Rail Road station, will include the work of 30 artists working in a variety of styles and formats, such as painting, sculpture and crochet.
“It’s really going to kick off the spring here in Bayside,” said Lyle Sclair, the BID’s executive director. “This year, we have all original artists. The quality of the artwork is amazing.”
Work from participating artists will be hung in stores along Bell Boulevard between 35th Avenue and Northern Boulevard.
The list of stores has not yet been finalized. All artwork featured during the event is for sale.
Additionally, Bayside High School students will be showing their work during a “gallery walk” between noon and 3 p.m. at stores along the shopping strip.
“The students partnered with six businesses along Bell to host their artwork,” Sclair said. “It gives them experience in having their work shown.”
Bayside High School will have a booth during the festival at which attendees can get a postcard that shows where the students’ work can be found.
Paul Kaplan, a local artist, vetted pieces for the festival to ensure that all work was original. Sclair said a number of local groups, such as Queens Dance Project and the Bayside Glee Club, would attend the festival.
