Biking the Tour de Queens
An event to demonstrate how "accessible cycling is in the city," the biking advocacy group Transportation Alternatives will be rolling through Northeast Queens.
The Fourth Annual Tour de Queens , a 20-mile bike ride through the northern and eastern sections of the borough, will take place on Sunday, July 10 at 9 a.m. The ride, a freewheeling tour of the borough’s parks and neighborhoods, begins and ends at the Queens Museum of Art in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
“Basically it’s a way to give New Yorkers a fun way to experience their homes and their boroughs,” said Michael Murphy, Director of Communications for Transportation Alternatives, the member organization which hosts the event. “And to see how accessible cycling is in the city.”
Last year’s ride went through Flushing, Fresh Meadows, Queens Village , Douglaston, and Bayside. This year’s route has yet to be determined.
