In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to create a still life that tells a personal narrative. Open to people of all skill levels.

In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to create a still life that tells a personal narrative. The focus
will be on mastering the alla prima technique to create a beautiful oil painting in a limited amount of time. You will also learn how to use light and shadow to increase the emotional impact and add drama to your
subject matter.

Stephanie will walk you through the process of painting directly from life with a series of short demonstrations and individual critiques of your work. She will illustrate how to block in the composition directly on the canvas, measure main landmarks, and mass in large value areas. The importance of
comparing values, measuring, finding edges, and looking for color relationships will also be discussed.

Participants are encouraged to bring in objects with sentimental value or intriguing figurines to help bring
your painting to life. The workshop is open to people of all skill levels.
