CDEC 26's March 22 Meeting Will Include Presentation on Literacy

M.S. 67 literacy coach will give presentation on strategies for parents.

A literacy coach from will discuss methods on how parents can ensure their children are learning to read at Community District Education Council 26’s March meeting.

The council, which covers Douglaston, Little Neck, Bayside and several other northeast Queens communities, will meet at 8 p.m. on March 22 at M.S. 67, located at 51-60 Marathon Parkway in Little Neck.

Brian Sweeney, the school’s literacy coach, will give a presentation titled “Parents as Literacy Partners” that will focus on how parents can be sure that their children are learning to read and write.

The guest speaker will also discuss strategies for parents help their children develop these skills.

The council’s next meeting will be held later in April. There will be a ballroom dancing performance by local students at that meeting.

Schools will be closed for spring recess from April 6 to 13.
