Crime Up By 23 Percent for 111th Precint in February

The number of robberies, burglaries and felony assaults were on the rise, according to police statistics.

Crime rose 23 percent in February in the 111th Precinct with increases in two of the seven major categories, while overall crime for the year is up six percent, according to police statistics.

There were no murders or rapes during the past month, but the number of robberies jumped up from five incidents in February 2012 to 12 incidents during the same period of time in 2013.

Burglary was also on the rise, going up from 16 incidents in February 2012 to 24 incidents during the past month.

And while there were no felony assaults in February 2012, there were six this past month.

The number of grand larcenies fell from 33 incidents last year to 29 incidents in February 2013.

And the number of grand larceny auto incidents dropped from 10 in February 2012 to nine during the past month.

The precinct’s statistics only covered the month through Feb. 17.

For the year, the number of robberies, burglaries and felony assaults are up, while the number of rapes, grand larcenies and grand larceny auto incidents have dropped.

The 111th Precinct covers Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck.
