Douglaston Green Market Will Have Visits from NYC Compost Project, APEC

will receive visits from a city composting project and in upcoming weeks.

On Aug. 26, the NYC Compost Project at Queens Botanical Garden, which is managed through the city's Department of Sanitation, will drop by the green market to answer composting questions.

The event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include a visit from a master composter, who will discuss worm bins and how to compost at home.

On Sept. 2, patrons who spend $20 at any one farm stand will receive a free reusable bag that can be used to carry home purchases from the market.

And Douglaston's Alley Pond Environmental Center will visit the market from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 9. During the event, APEC representatives will discuss the local ecosystem and hand out literature that will teach local children about the environment.

The green market is located in the traffic circle at Douglaston's . It is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday through Nov. 18.
