Support a foundation that provides swimming lessons to all.
Did you ever wish you could teach your children how to swim without feeling that they are not properly covered or resenting the mixed gender pools? We, at the
Fajr Memorial Foundation have just the thing for you. We currently host two, (male and female) weekend swim classes for young ones, in a facility located in Flushing, Queens. These classes are taught by a World Olympics Team instructor. In order to keep this effort going, we need your support.
So who are we?
The Fajr Memorial Foundation (FMF) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing its services to the community since June 2011. The FMF was founded by the Javid Family after the tragic death of their beloved daughter Fajr Javid on June 26th 2010. Fajr died as a result of drowning. It is thus the mission of FMF to teach young boys and girls how to swim in a facility that will provide a proper environment.
To further expand this mission, the FMF is hosting two fundraising events in partnership with Movie World- Douglaston. The movie theater will host a special screening of the movie "Journey to Mecca".
"Journey to Mecca" follows the life of the great Islamic explorer Ibn Battuta, while also discussing the steps and process of the religious & spiritual journey of Hajj (Islamic pilgrimage) in depth.
All of the proceeds from this event will go to the FMF.
The first event, taking place on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 @ 10:00 A.M. is for schools who are interested in taking their students on a class trip to view this movie in the theater.
The second event, on Saturday November 26th, 2011 @10:00 A.M. is open to all people who would like to support the FMF while learning about Islamic history. More information is provided below.
