American Bolero Dance Company's Spanish Dance School proudly presents its students in their year-end recital on Saturday, June 16th at 1:30 PM at St. Paul's Ministry Center (68 Grace Ave, Great Neck). Performances will feature Flamenco and other dances from Spain, as well as Ballet, choreographed by Gabriela Granados.
Gabriela Granados is the Artistic Director and Founder of American Bolero Dance Company, which she founded in 1996 with the mission to present and preserve and present Spanish dance and music in their diverse forms. The company specializes in Spain’s Classical and Regional dances, Escuela Bolera, Zarzuela and Flamenco.
Extensively trained in these styles, as well as in Classical Ballet, Character dance and Latin American folklore, Ms. Granados has performed internationally, touring her signature productions in New York City, the Mid-Atlantic States and Europe to critical acclaim. She performed in three of Madrid’s most legendary tablaos flamencos: Los Canasteros, Zambra and Las Brujas. In the US, she has performed with the flamenco companies of Maria Benítez, Andrea del Conte and Carlota Santana, and with flamenco artists La Conja, Pedro Cortés, La Meira, Chuny Amaya, Liliana Morales, Concha Vargas, Juan Siddi, Chuscales and Antonio Granjero. She choreographs for and appears regularly with her company, as well as with orchestras and opera companies. The New York Times has called Ms. Granados’ professional productions “exuberant and stylish” and her solo work “stunning…a tour de force”. Since November 2008, she has been presenting – and performing in – Tablao FlamencoTM, an ongoing Flamenco dance and music series taking place in Astoria, Queens.

She has been an artist-in-residence at LaGuardia High School of Music, Art & the Performing Arts, on the faculty of Broadway Dance Center, a freelance teacher at Fazil’s Times Circle Rehearsal Studios, and a guest teacher and lecturer for the Dance Departments of New York University and Barnard College. In 2002, she founded her dance company’s affiliated Spanish Dance School, which offers courses for adults and children, ages 4 and up. Instructors at the school follow Ms. Granados’ dance method, a unique educational approach with a comprehensive age-based syllabus that combines elements of Flamenco, Ballet, Classical, Regional Folk and Character Dance. The Spanish Dance School currently holds classes in Astoria, and Great Neck, Long Island.
