Holy Martyrs to Host Annual Festival on Sept. 8
Bayside church's event draws as many as 2,000 people to the community each year.

Bayside residents will be able to partake in an afternoon of food, music and fun this weekend as Holy Martyrs Armenian Church hosts its annual street festival.
Holy Martyrs, located at 209-15 Horace Harding Expressway in Bayside, will hold its 15th annual festival on Sept. 8 from noon to 9 p.m.
Margaret Ghazarian, the church's secretary, said the event has become a big one for northeast Queens during the past eight years. She said it typically draws an estimated 2,000 people from all over the borough.

"There are rides for the children, vendors, live music and dance groups that will perform," she said.
The festival, for which admission is free, will offer mediterranean appetizers, kebabs, homemade desserts and specialty foods at its hye market.

Entertainment will be provided by Robert Chilingirian, Aradzani and Hye Bar Dance Groups, Antranig Dance Ensemble, Greek American Folk Dance Society, Huyser Music Ensemble of St. Illuminator Armenian Cathedral, Kristy and Julie Asriyan and the Vanush Khanamiryan Dance Academy of New York.
The festival will also include a book-tique, flu shots, raffles, a wine toss and activities for children.
