Last Chance: Absentee Ballots

Tuesday is the last day to postmark a written request for an absentee ballot to vote in the June 26 congressional primary election, according to the city's Campaign Finance Board.

Registered voters who will not be able to make it to their polling site on Election Day due to travel, studies, business, illness, disability or residence in a long-term care facility can vote by absentee ballot.

But those intending to do so must postmark a written request for an absentee ballot by June 19.

Queens races included in this year's congressional primary election include U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, George Maragos and Wendy Long vying for the Republican line in the race against U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

And four Democrats — state Assembly Members Rory Lancman, D-Fresh Meadows, and Grace Meng, D-Flushing, as well as Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, D-Middle Village, and Bayside Doctor Robert Mittman — will compete in the Sixth Congressional District primary. Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone, who is not particpating in a primary, is the race's only Republican. Evergreen Chou is the Green Party candidate.
