LIRR Trains Delayed, Canceled Due To Broken Rail
Some trains traveling between Port Washington and Penn Station have been canceled due to a broken rail near Little Neck.

LITTLE NECK, NY - Trains on the LIRR route between Port Washington and Penn Station are experiencing delays and cancelations due to a broken rail near Little Neck, the MTA said.
The 10:40 and 11:40 a.m. trains traveling westbound from Port Washington to Penn Station have been canceled. In the other direction, the 10:49 and 11:49 a.m. trains from Penn to Port Washington were canceled.
Travelers should instead take the 11:10 a.m. or 12:10 p.m. trains from Port Washington to Penn, which will make added stops at Plandome and Broadway. Eastbound travelers should take the 11:19 a.m. or 12:19 p.m. trains from Penn to Port Washington.

The LIRR is still investigating what caused the broken rail, but a spokesperson said broken rails are often linked to cold weather.
The MTA will honor LIRR tickets at certain stops on the 7 train, the agency said.

We continue to experience delays of up to 30 minutes, along with some cancellations, on the Port Washington Branch due to a broken rail near Little Neck. NYC Transit is cross-honoring tickets on the 7 train at 61st Ste./Woodside and Flushing/Main St. to Penn.

The broken rail caused some morning commuters to experience 30-minute delays, starting just after 8 a.m. LIRR personnel finished repairs just after 11 a.m., a spokesperson said.
