MS 158 to Host October 3 Alumni Reunion and Fall Carnival to Celebrate 60th Anniversary
Bayside middle school to celebrate 60th anniversary with open house, fun and games

Middle School 158Q – the Marie Curie School – will celebrate 60 years of excellence in education this year, and the school and PTA will mark the occasion with a homecoming day filled with fun family activities. The school will open its doors on Saturday, October 3, for visiting alumni to come back to their alma mater; the PTA will host a Fall Family Festival filled with carnival games, attractions, and a raffle to help celebrate.
Opening ceremonies begin at 10 am, with an MS 158 band performance and welcoming remarks, followed by an open house. Alumni are invited to walk the halls of their former school, remembering their years there and getting updated on the school’s current activities. At noon, the PTA will open the gates on the family festival in the yard behind the school. The carnival runs until 4 pm, when the raffle drawing will end the day by awarding fun and exciting prize baskets and gift cards from local businesses to lucky winners.
Founded in 1955, MS 158 is named for Marie Curie, the Polish scientist whose pioneering work in the field of radioactivity earned her two Nobel prizes. The Marie Curie school today is a Magnet School for Science, Mathematics and Technology, and is the single biggest feeder school in Queens to New York’s specialized high schools.
