My daughter is just starting chapter books, but she likes Henry and Mudge. She enjoys nonfiction books best, learning about real things - animals, insects, places, people and life experiences. The teacher sent home a few ideas that are good for her exact independent reading level. I do understand that every child is different and interests vary.
