Queensborough to Raise Money for Scholarships Through Walk

Queensborough Community College will host a walk to raise money for student scholarships on March 20, a spokeswoman for the Bayside-based college said.

Walk to Aspire will take place at Queensborough’s athletic field, where 92.3 NOW will radio broadcast live.

The event, which will begin at 1 p.m., will raise money for scholarships to allow students who want to attend the college can afford to do so.

Last year, students from the school raised $12,000 through raffles, karaoke contests and a full-course gourmet lunch spread.

“Our team has organized a traveling bake sale that brings goodies to different locations around campus,” said Yecenia Congote, a liberal arts and science student who is taking part in the walk.

Students will walk two miles around the college’s track during the event. Walk to Aspire, which is co-sponsored by the college’s student government association, has raised more than $100,000 for scholarships since its inception in 2007.
