The PS 169 Carnival of Fun

The Bay Terrace school brings out the rides and games.

Every Friday before Memorial Day (weather permitting), P.S. 169 in Bay Terrace welcomes the summer with a Carnival in its school yard dedicated to pure fun. Students and teachers in pre-K through fifth grade get to ditch their books and pencils for time in the sun. Parents are invited to join in the fun.

This year, on Friday, May 27, the weather co-operated perfectly and the kids came out to enjoy such exciting rides as the Extreme Dual Slide, Castle Bounce, Evolution, a train and new for 2011, The Bungee Run. A highlight of the day was when Principal Vanessa Rosa and Assistant Principal Jason Rivers took the challenge of the Extreme Dual Slide side-by-side! There were also eight authentic carnival game booths, in which winners received such prices as necklaces. Students were given two hours of pure enjoyment, with the lower grades and upper grades visiting at separate times.

Food items for sale included cotton candy, popcorn, ices, assorted chips, pretzels, bottled water, soda and hot dogs. After all, what is a carnival without the chance to eat junk food? Photos in a commemorative 4X6 frame were available to mark the special day. Students were able to take photos with friends, teachers, parents and even the principal and assistant principal.
