2 Teens Face Hate Crime Charge After Bed-Stuy Synagogue Attack

Police have arrested two 13-year-olds they believe threw a pole through a Bed-Stuy synagogue window last weekend.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Two 13-year-olds face hate crime charges for throwing a pipe through a Bed-Stuy synagogue window last weekend, police said.

Two teens have been charged for smashing a metal pole through a glass window at the Synagogue Volkan on the corner of Franklin and Myrtle avenues at about 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 3, police said.

One teen was charged with criminal mischief as a hate crime and another with aggravated harassment based on race or religion, according to police.

During their investigation, police also uncovered video of the same group sneaking up behind a 14-year-old boy and knocking the hat off his head.

The kids also shoved a 10-year-old girl to the ground when they ran away toward Willoughby Avenue, police said.

The two 13-year-olds' names were not released.
