Bed-Stuy Dad Shot Dead And Left In Trash: Cops And Report

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Police have identified the Bed-Stuy dad who was fatally shot in the chest and left on top of a garbage heap, according to police and reports.

Police said Sunday that Malik T. Russell, 29, was the fatally wounded man they found near the corner of Chauncey and Thomas S. Boyland streets at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday.

Emergency responders rushed Russell, who lived about five blocks away on Stone Avenue, to Interfaith Medical Center where he later died, according to police.

Cheryl Russell, the victim’s aunt, told the Daily News, “He was a great father and a wonderful nephew."

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
