BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Bed-Stuy residents will soon be able to pick up new reads at one of their local libraries again.

Macon Library, one of three branches in the neighborhood, is among the 10 Brooklyn Public Library locations that will reopen for grab-and-go services on Monday, Aug. 10, the library announced.

The announcement comes as Brooklyn libraries slowly reopen following a months-long closure during the coronavirus pandemic. The 10 new branches will bring the total locations open for to-go service to 17.

Each location will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday to pick up holds or return books.

The libraries have added extra precautions — including quarantining returned books for 96 hours — to help open safely. Patrons should wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines, the library said.
