Bed-Stuy Man Convicted After Shooting Into Crowded Courtyard: DA

Tyshon Knight was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Jamaal Anderson in broad daylight in 2015, prosecutors said.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — The man who shot into a crowded and sunny Bed-Stuy courtyard during a wild revenge killing will spend almost two decades in prison, prosecutors announced Friday.

Tyshon Knight, 34, was sentenced to 18 years for avenging his brother’s death on May 27, 2015 when he shot Jamaal Anderson, 31, outside 1615 Fulton St., according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.

Knight and and his accomplice, Isaac Bryant, stormed the courtyard at about 3:30 p.m. and both began shooting at Anderson, who turned and tried to run, prosecutors said.

One of the 13 bullets the men fired into the courtyard caught Anderson in the back and he collapsed on the ground, said prosecutors.

Knight and Bryant dove into their car and sped away, leaving Anderson with a gunshot wound that caused his death in Interfaith Medical Hospital hours later, prosecutors said.
