Bed-Stuy Tennis Champ Signs Scholarship with XU
Corey Huggins, a Bedford-Stuyvesant Prep grad, is making a name for himself in the college tennis world.

Corey Huggins, a Bed-Stuy tennis player who has spent the last two seasons at Seminole State College in Oklahoma, has signed a men's tennis scholarship with Xavier University of Louisiana, according to Sports NOLA.
The report says Huggins, who graduated from Bedford-Stuyvesant Prep, is a 6-foot-2 right-hander and XU junior majoring in marketing. He will play this Saturday with tennis team Gold Rush at Tulane University.
Sports NOLA says that Huggins was a singles semifinalist at the 2011 NJCAA Division I National Tournament and was 19-6 in singles as a Seminole sophomore. In the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association NJCAA rankings, Huggins was 84th in singles and 18th in doubles as a sophomore and 47th in singles and 19th in doubles as a freshman, says the report.
