Brooklyn Cyclist Dies Days After Minivan Crash, Police Say

Bed-Stuy man Kenichi Nakagawa, 22, died three days after he crashed into a minivan in Crown Heights, police said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A young Bed-Stuy cyclist who was struck by a minivan in Crown Heights last weekend from died from his injuries Tuesday, police said.

Kenichi Nakagawa, 22, died at Kings County Hospital days after a 2012 Toyota Sienna rammed into him near the corner of Dean Street and Brooklyn Avenue at about 5:25 p.m. Saturday, said police.

The minivan was rolling through a green light when Nakagawa disobeyed his red light, pedaled into the the intersection and hit the van's front bumper, according to police.

Nakagawa, of Macon Street, suffered head injuries that proved to be fatal, police said.

The 66-year-old minivan driver was not charged with a crime, said police.
