Cardi B Makes Guest Feature In Bloods Gang Indictment

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A sweeping indictment accuses 11 suspected Bloods gang members of variously trafficking in drugs, violence and murder — as well as a nightclub assault on behalf of rap sensation Cardi B.

Cardi B makes an appearance under her real name — Belcalis Almanzar — in the federal documents unveiled Tuesday.

She's not named as a defendant, but authorities draw a connection between her, a violent 2018 dustup at a Queens strip club and a suspected gang member involved in not only that fracas, but another at the same club two weeks before.

But it's only a small piece of a wider story about the 5-9 Brims, a set of the Bloods gang, detailed in the complaint. Some 5-9 Brims members fought a feud with a rival faction that led to a 2015 broad daylight murder in Bed-Stuy, authorities said.

“The 5-9 Brims is a violent criminal organization that has terrorized residents of Brooklyn and Queens by committing brutal acts of violence in public places, trafficking narcotics on the streets and defrauding victims through financial schemes,” said Richard Donaghue, United States Attorney for the Eastern District, in a statement.

The Brooklyn murder unfolded after three 5-9 Brims members agreed to shoot members of Brooklyn-based rival faction Real Ryte "on sight," records state. One did so on Dec. 19, 2015 when video surveillance shows the shooting of Real Ryte member Sean Peart in his car, according to the records.

Prosecutors charged suspected 5-9 Brims member Marvin Pippins in connection to the murder.

Another violent incident went down at a Queens strip club called Angels on Aug. 15, 2018, the records state. A jailed woman, Yonette Respass, told gang members to assault two women who worked as bartenders at the club whom believed disrespected her, authorities said.

"I want hands put on them," Respass told them, according to documents. "I don’t even want no talking."

Several men, including one named Jeffrey Bush, attacked the women by hitting them in the head and throwing a bottle, all while recording on a cell phone, documents state.

It's two weeks later that Bush is accused of carrying out another attack on two bartenders at the club, this time at Cardi B's request, records state. Cardi B, Bush and another man are charged by Queens County authorities in a separate case in which she's accused of telling her companions to throw bottles at the bartenders because she thought one of them slept with her husband, the rapper Offset.

Cardi B talked about her association with the Brims in a GQ profile. Respass is known as the Brims' "Godmother" and is one of Cardi B's best friends, according to NBC New York.

Prosecutors argued in a filing that several suspects should remain jailed while the court case moves forward.
