Correction Officers Play Santa for Needy Children

Correction Officers and Civilian staff working at the Queens Detention Complex, 126-01 82nd St., Kew Gardens, shared the joy of the holiday season by collecting and distributing more than 300 toys to needy children.

The toys were first distributed to the Jamaica Hospital Pediatric Unit. The Santa’s helpers then made their way to the Jamaica Hospital Pediatric Emergency Room and Clinic. Their last stop was the Lincoln Atlantic Motor Inn Homeless Shelter, located in Jamaica, where the remainder of the toys were distributed.

DOC Executive Officer at QDC Maria Texiera said, “This was such a momentous event that we are already planning a toy/fun drive slated for early 2016.”
