Adam Phillips, "one of our greatest contemporary psychoanalytic thinkers" (The New Statesman), examines the theatricality of madness across ages and cultures as represented in The Diary of a Madman, King Lear, and Macbeth—three plays performed at BAM this spring. Phillips has written over one dozen books, including Going Sane and, most recently,The Concise Dictionary of Dress (with Judith Clark), as well as On Balance.
