Regarding the 11th annual celebration in 2015, Parker stated in a press release that “it’s important to remember Dr. King’s approach toward the Civil Rights Movement: non-violent resistance. Non-violent resistance is not a passive ideology -- standing up for our rights comes from an active perspective, a perspective that we must maintain to make meaningful strides toward great change.”

This year’s event will be held at the Pilgrim Church, Renaissance Convention Center 1338-44 Broadway, Between Gates and Quincy (main entrance on Broadway), Brooklyn, NY 11221. Doors open at 5pm.
