GoFundMe Helps Bed-Stuy Ambulance Service During Coronavirus
A GoFundMe dovetails with Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Services' recent call for donations to help keep running through outbreak.
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — There's another way to help keep Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Services running during the new coronavirus outbreak.
A GoFundMe "Help Save Lives With Bed-Stuy Vollies" has so far raised $2,725. It started about a week ago after the volunteer ambulance put out a public call for help.
The ambulance corps — the first minority-run volunteer ambulance service in the country — is under an increasing financial strain during the coronavirus, leaving its leaders concerned they'll be able to pay bills.
