Kids Evacuated From Bed-Stuy Daycare Center During Gas Leak: FDNY

Firefighters evacuated a Monroe Street daycare center Thursday morning to investigate a gas leak in a nearby building.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN -- Children fled a Bed-Stuy daycare center Thursday morning as firefighters investigated a gas leak in a nearby building, officials said.

Emergency responders evacuated Kidsworld Childcare Center at 46 Monroe St. shortly after 8 a.m. to investigate a gas leak near Monroe Street and Franklin Avenue, according to the FDNY.

The gas leak in the basement of 50 Monroe St caused an electrical condition that firefighters had under control as of 11:30 a.m., said the FDNY.

No injuries were reported and National Grid and Con Edison are conducting further investigations, said the FDNY.
