NBA Star Sebastian Telfair Arrested In Bed-Stuy With Arsenal Of Weapons, NYPD Says

Telfair was arrested Saturday for driving around Bed-Stuy with loaded guns, a bulletproof vest and a lit joint, police said.

BEDFORD STUYVESANT — Former NBA star Sebastian Telfair was arrested in Bed-Stuy Sunday morning when police found him in a pickup truck stocked with loaded guns, drugs and a bulletproof vest, according to the NYPD.

Police stopped Telfair, 32, and Jami Thomas, 18, in a 2017 Ford F-150 truck near Atlantic and Classon avenues around 2:50 a.m. Sunday, said police.

Telfair and Thomas had parked on a street median then tried to drive away without turning on the headlights, police said.

Officers who stopped the duo found a lit blunt, three guns, a semi-automatic rifle, a bulletproof vest and ammunition, according to police.

Telfair was arraigned on 13 charges — including criminal possession of a weapon, ballistic vest and marijuana — in Brooklyn criminal court where bail was set at $75,000, court records show.

Telfair was a highly celebrated NBA point guard who played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves before launching a professional career in China.
