The neighborhood held many venues that housed jazz greats like Thelonius Monk, Lena Horne, Carmen McRae, Randy Weston, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Abbey Lincoln, Hank Mobley, Eubie Blake, Ray Abrams, Betty Carter and others.
