Shooter Fires At 2 Patrol Cops On Bed-Stuy Rooftop, Police Say
The officers were shot at while patrolling Stuyvesant Gardens, where Bed-Stuy moms Chynna Battle and Shaqwanda Staley were killed in July.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Someone shot at two NYPD officers as they stood on a Bed-Stuy housing development rooftop Sunday night, police said.
Two officers were patrolling the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses roof at 835 Gates Ave. around 10:30 p.m. when they heard multiple gunshots, police said.
Bullets came flying toward them but missed the officers and hit a nearby rooftop door, police said.

The shooter, whom investigators believe fired from a nearby roof, escaped before the officers could make an arrest, police said.
The two patrol officers were conducting a "vertical patrol" at the Stuyvesant Garden Houses, where Bed-Stuy moms Chynna Battle, 21, and Shaqwanda Staley, 29, were fatally shot on July 12.

Neither mother was believed to have been the intended target.
