'Stop The Violence' Town Hall Planned Where 1-Year-Old Was Killed
A family day and Town Hall are planned at the playground Tuesday in light of recent Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights shooting deaths.
BED-STUY, BROOKLYN β Top cops and local elected officials will hold a "Stop the Violence Town Hall" Tuesday in their latest effort to address a shooting surge in the borough.
The 6 p.m. Town Hall β organized by Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr. and NYPD leaders β will follow a family day at the Raymond Bush Playground, the playground where 1-year-old Davell Gardner Jr. was shot and killed last week.
Davell's death is one of several fatalities in Central Brooklyn in the last week as New York City grapples with a months-long shooting surge.

In Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights, recent shootings have left three people dead, including Davell, and have injured at least nine, according to Cornegy's office.
Cops are still looking for the two gunmen who opened fire on the July 12 Bed-Stuy cookout where Davell was killed and three others were injured. A fundraiser for Davell's family has raised more than $27,000.

The family day and town hall is part of an initiative to bring more resources to neighborhoods suffering from the uptick in gun violence.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has said his new anti-crime plan includes increased NYPD foot patrols in high-shooting areas, particularly in the Brooklyn and the Bronx, and deploying Community Affairs officers and gun buybacks.
Brooklyn activists also recently held a "Cease-Fire Peace Walk" through the neighborhood.
