Teen Shot Dead Outside Bed-Stuy Homeless Shelter: NYPD

Tahrim Applewhite, of upstate New York, was fatally shot outside a Doe Fund homeless shelter Thursday morning, police said.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A teenager from upstate New York was shot dead in front of a Bed-Stuy homeless shelter Thursday morning, police said.

Tahrim Applewhite, 19, was found with bullet wounds in his stomach and right arm lying outside The Doe Fund's Gates Avenue Center for Opportunity at 520 Gates Ave. around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Emergency responders rushed the teen to Kings County Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life.

A friend took to social media to mourn the loss of Applewhite, whom police said was from Auburn in upstate New York.
