Too Hot to Cook? These 3 Smoothie Recipes Will Help You Beat the Heat
Take a break from the heat with these delicious smoothie recipes.

If you're like me, you're not trying to go near your kitchen these days. Brownstones sure know how to hold on to some heat.
During the summer, I try to minimize the time I spend in the kitchen by relying on my VItamix, a high-powered blender that makes eating healthy easy and delicious.
Here are three of my favorite smoothie recipes.
The Gateway Green Smoothie
tight handful of spinach (fresh, steamed, or frozen)
1 cup frozen pineapple
banana, optional
water or milk or yogurt of your choice
Add ingredients to your blender in the order listed. Begin with 1 cup of liquid and blend on high. Add more liquid until you reach your desired consistency.
Blackberry Cocoa Smoothie
2 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
a generous handful of frozen blackberries
1 tsp vanilla
milk or yogurt of your choice
sweetener of your choice, to taste, optional
pinch of salt, optional
Add ingredients to your blender in the order listed. Begin with 1 cup of liquid and blend on high. Add more liquid, if desired, until you reach your desired consistency.
Virgin Pina Colada Smoothie
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk or cultured coconut milk yogurt
1 tsp vanilla extract
sweetener of your choice, to taste, optional
Add ingredients to your blender in the order listed. Begin with 1 cup of liquid and blend on high. Add more liquid, if desired, until you reach your desired consistency.
