BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A new clinic at Woodhull hospital will provide fast access for health problems that send Brooklynites too often to the emergency room.

The ExpressCare opening announced Monday is the first such clinic in Brooklyn's public health system, said NYC Health + Hospitals officials in a release.

For seven days a week, patients can walk into the clinic and get quick care for colds, flu, sprains, skin rashes, minor cuts and lacerations and certain types of infections, officials said.

Gregory Calliste, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, said in a statement that it will provide affordable health services to "patients who wish to see a doctor right away while reducing avoidable emergency room visits."

“We are excited to have a high-quality, walk-in, urgent care clinic that allows us to expand upon our ability to offer the North Brooklyn community resources to better manage their healthcare needs,” he said in a statement.

Woodhull serves the Bedford-Stuyvesant, Williamsburg, Bushwick, Greenpoint and Fort Greene neighborhoods. It opened the clinic in December but only drew attention to it this week.

The ExpressCare clinic will help short wait times for patients in with non-life-threatening conditions, NYC Health + Hospitals officials said. It differs from urgent care centers in that there's a direct connection with primary care providers, they said.

Patients can visit seven days a week from 6 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

More information about Woodhull can be found at the hospital's website.
