1-Car Crash Kills Mamaroneck Man

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

NORTH CASTLE, NY — A crash Sunday on I-684 took the life of a Mamaroneck man. State police said troopers were sent to southbound I-684 near exit 3N for a report of a vehicle off the roadway around 7:20 p.m. Sunday.

Police found that a 2014 Dodge Charger, driven by John M. Saunders, 74, of Mamaroneck, was traveling in the center lane.

He then veered right and then veered across the center lane into the left lane for unknown reasons.

Saunders' vehicle then struck the center guard rail and rolled over into the median.

He was treated at the scene by Armonk Emergency Services, Armonk Fire Department and Westchester Emergency Medical Services before before being taken to the hospital.

Police said Saunders died of his injuries at Westchester Medical Center.
