1 Critically Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-684

A second man was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

BEDFORD, NY — A driver going the wrong way on Interstate 684 Sunday night caused a head-on collision in Bedford.

State police said its investigation found that around 11:30 p.m. Steven Becerra, 30, of Carmel, got onto I-684 from the southbound Exit 4 ramp heading northbound in the southbound lanes.

Michael Duffy, 42, of Yonkers, who was traveling southbound was unable to avoid the northbound vehicle, and the two collided head-on.

Duffy was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries.

Becerra is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.

Police said the crash is still under investigation.
