2 NYC Men Accused Of Stealing Cellphones
Police said the men drove but then fled on foot after their minivan became disabled.
BEDFORD, NY — Two New York City men were accused of stealing two cellphones from a Verizon Wireless store. Bedford police said they were called to the Verizon store at 774 Bedford Road in Bedford Hills around 6:40 p.m. Monday.
Authorities said the two men fled north on Bedford Road in a dark color minivan with a police car behind them trying to stop them.
Police said the men got on the Saw Mill River Parkway at the Exit 39 South and began traveling north in the southbound lanes.

The minivan became disabled near the Nottingham Road ramp at which point they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
A search was conducted along with the Westchester County Police Department canine unit and helicopter, state police canine unit and the MTA police.

The men were tracked to a home on Nottingham Road and found under an above-ground pool deck.
They were taken into custody without further incident around 8 p.m.
Police charged Robert Figueroa, 32, of Brooklyn, with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Jorge L. Serrano, 29, of Queens, was charged with petit larceny, third-degree fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving, all misdemeanors.
Both men were arraigned with bail set at $800 or bond at $1,500 each.
They were taken to the Westchester County Jail pending court appearances Aug. 14.
