3 Bedford-Area Lawyers Named Top Lawyers

BEDFORD, NY — Michael Markhoff, partner at Danziger & Markhoff LLP and a Bedford resident, was named Best Lawyers 2018 Trusts & Estates “Lawyer of the Year” for White Plains. Only one lawyer in each practice area in each community receives this honored designation. Michael Markhoff also received this distinction in 2016 and his father, Harris Markhoff, received it in 2013.

In addition Michael Markhoff was also selected for inclusion in the 2017 New York Metro Super Lawyers list. He was selected in the area of Estate Planning and Probate. Each year, only 5 percent of the attorneys practicing in New York receive this honor.

Michael Markhoff concentrates on estate planning and estate administration, representing professionals, executives and small businesses owners. He is past president of the Estate Planning Council of Westchester County, Inc. and the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council and past chairman of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Westchester County Bar Association. Markhoff was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bedford Free Library from 2005 to 2014, and the Board of Directors of Fox Lane Youth Lacrosse from 2013 to 2015 and is also a member of the Board of Advisers of the Westchester Community Foundation.

He earned his J.D. at Brooklyn Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College.

Harris Markhoff, managing partner at Danziger & Markhoff LLP and a Pound Ridge resident, was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2018 in the areas of corporate law and trusts and estates law. Harris Markhoff has been selected for this list for over 25 years and is a prior “Lawyer of the Year.”

Harris Markhoff has a broad business and tax practice which includes counseling individuals, professional corporations, closely held and family-owned businesses on a wide range of corporate, tax and estate planning issues. He negotiates and structures joint ventures, partnerships, buy-sell agreements, stockholder arrangements, the acquisition and sale of businesses, and other business transactions and relationships. He also advises clients in the context of dispute resolution and dissolution of business relationships.

Harris Markhoff earned his J.D. at Columbia Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College.

Joshua S. Levine, partner at Danziger & Markhoff LLP and a Katonah resident, was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2018 in the area of health care law for the fifth year in a row.

Levine’s practice concentration is in corporate, securities and health care law and he represents closely held businesses and professional entities — primarily medical practices — in all aspects of their business dealings. He counsels clients in connection with the formation of new businesses, the organization of joint ventures, and the acquisition and sale of businesses. Levine has extensive experience in the organization and operation of ambulatory surgery centers and also advises health care clients on Federal and State regulatory matters.

Levine earned his J.D. at New York University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
