📰 News we're reading

1. 5 Westchester food closings, from long runs to short stints (thetimesherald.com) — Bedford diners will notice that a satellite of a local gourmet cafe, opened by the owners of JJ's Deli, has already closed its second location while the original Bedford spot remains strong. The story also tracks several other recent restaurant shutdowns across Westchester, underscoring how volatile the local dining scene has become this summer.

2. Edward H. Rodier (halstonmedia.com) — A longtime former Bedford resident, Edward H. Rodier Jr., has died at 84, with visitation and a funeral Mass taking place Tuesday in nearby Yorktown Heights. Friends and former neighbors from Bedford are invited to pay their respects and remember his decades of hard work, love of cars and sailing, and deep devotion to family and community.

3. Man Steals Copper From Plumbing Business In Yorktown, Police Say (dailyvoice.com) — Bedford Police helped Yorktown officers arrest a man accused of stealing about $200 in copper from a Yorktown plumbing business after he was spotted on security cameras. The suspect, an Ossining resident, was later charged with petit larceny and trespass and is due in Yorktown Justice Court on September 24.

4. Raymond Edward Perugini (halstonmedia.com) — A horticulture professional who spent more than 40 years working for Rosedale Nurseries in Hawthorne, Millbrook and Bedford has died at 85. While he lived in Brewster, many Bedford residents may remember him from his long tenure at the nursery; services are being held this week in Brewster and Katonah.
